LIMERICK PA – To honor the women “who are always there, often behind the scenes, committed to going above and beyond,” as area attorney Kathleen Martin put it in a recent letter, the YWCA Tri-County Area will gather Nov. 5 (2009; Thursday) in The Loft at Limerick Golf Club, 765 N. Lewis Rd., for its 2009 Tribute to Exceptional Women event.
- This event has been added to The Post calendar.
Nominations for exceptional women candidates in seven categories – the Arts, Education, Health, Non-Profit and Public Service, Business, Rising Star, and the Sally Lee Lifetime Achievement Award – are being accepted from the public through Aug. 7. To obtain a nomination form, and for more information on the annual event, call the YWCA at 610-323-1888.
Martin, the tribute’s committee chairperson and a lawyer with O’Donnell Weiss Mattei PC in Pottstown PA, in a letter calling for nominations notes that past honorees have been those women who are “always taking on another project, not for her own glory but because she needs the need, and steps up to the task. She encourages the group to achieve more than one person ever could, and fades back to let the group take the credit,” Martin wrote.
Nominees are not required to live within the Pottstown community. Because the YWCA serves Montgomery, Berks and northern Chester counties, they need only a “strong connection to this area,” according to nomination literature.
Last year’s winners included Jane Alan, Paige Bain, Erika Hornburg-Cooper, Bernadette “Butsy” McElroy, E. Julie MacGregor, Isabel Rosewarne, and Angela Snyder.
