LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – St. Pius X High School, which had scheduled its fourth annual Festival of Food fundraiser for later this month, announced Wednesday (Jan. 14, 2009) it was canceling the event due “to the current economic environment.”

Only a few days earlier, the area’s Roman Catholic high school at 844 N. Keim St. was continuing to announce on its web pages that 27 area restaurants, cafes, diners and eateries had agreed to participate in the Jan. 25 event to benefit the school. Tickets were priced at $25 per person. “Unfortunately,” the website now reports, “we were unable to secure enough restaurants and caterers to make the event a success.”

Limerick and Royersford restaurants were among those which had been advertised as participants. The list  included The Casual Gourmet, Sly Fox Brewhouse And Eatery, Bruster’s Real Ice Cream, Corropolese, Pretzel Depot, Cutillo’s Restaurant And Catering, Jukebox Cafe, Positively Pasta Plus Inc., Brookside Family Restaurant, TGIFriday’s, Sweet Street, Thriftway, Pepsi, Applebees, Little Italy, Havana Joe’s, The Johnson Kitchen, Churchill Inc., Giant, Cosco, Big Daddy’s, All Star Cafe, Frank’s Flaming Grille, French Quarter Bistro, Chat-A-While Inn, Angelina’s Italian Kitchen, and Tony’s Family Restaurant.

Fundraiser organizers expressed their thanks “to all those who were interested in purchasing tickets, and to the restaurants and caterers who did commit to participate in the Festival. Your support of St. Pius is greatly appreciated!”
