HARRISBURG PA – Active duty members of the armed forces, members of Pennsylvania’s National Guard and Reserve activated by the federal government, and their families all can enjoy a new perk when visiting state historical sites. They get in free.

Pennsylvania’s Historical and Museum Commission said Tuesday (Feb. 10, 2009) it would not charge admission to those in active service at 23 locations it supervises. All that’s needed to receive free tickets is a form of ID that demonstrates current service, the commission said.

Among commission sites closest to Limerick are the Daniel Boone Homestead in Birdsboro PA, the Conrad Weiser Homestead in Womelsdorf PA, and Graeme Park in Horsham PA.

Some 4,000 members of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard 56th Stryker Brigade are currently deployed in Iraq. Nearly 1,000 state National Guard soldiers from the 28th Combat Aviation Brigade are also on their way to Iraq.
