LIMERICK PA – Employees at Exelon Nuclear’s Limerick Generating Station (LGS) have collected and donated 125 bags of clothing to six families who were victims of recent fires in Coatesville PA, the company announced Monday (Feb. 23, 2009). LGS workers also held a benefit lunch that raised more than $600 to help families buy necessary household items.

LGS was alerted to the families’ needs, according to company representative Joseph Szafran, by the daughter of an employee. The clothing was gathered in just three days, and distributed by the Coatesville Ministerial Alliance. Tabernacle Baptist Church, Coatesville, served as a drop off location for clothing donations. Other churches in Coatesville accepted donated furniture and other items.

“These fires have tested the strength of the community in Coatesville and the region. Fortunately, a group like the Ministerial Alliance has spearheaded this effort to help these families in need,” said Chris Mudrick, Limerick site vice president.
