PHOENIXVILLE PA – Pulte Homes Inc., the new home builder which created the Longford Crossing town home community, 101 Hudson Dr., announced Wednesday (April 8, 2009) it would buy competitor Centex Corp. at a cost of $3.1 billion to form the nation’s largest home building company.

“Combining these two industry leaders with proud legacies into one company puts us in an excellent position to navigate through the current housing downturn,” said Pulte President and Chief Executive Officer Richard J. Dugas Jr. The combined organization will operate in 59 markets, 29 states and the District of Columbia.
