LIMERICK PA –, the online news resource that covers the U.S. Route 422 corridor from Limerick (PA) Township east to Oaks and from Phoenixville north to Harleysville, has launched some major enhancements.

Since increasing its staff in mid-March with the addition of reporter Michael Hays, WhatsThe422 has expanded its daily reporting; installed a new look that makes it easier to find and navigate stories and pages; created a daily calendar that helps readers keep track of local events; and added a daily weather report, focused on the Royersford 19468 zip code and provided by WeatherUnderground. Most recently, it added national and world news headlines and their linked stories fed from BreakingNewsOn (BNO) through the popular social networking site, Twitter.

To support its business model, WhatsThe422 also has begun to accept paid advertising. The Collegeville PA-based West-Mont United Soccer Association debuted last week as its premiere advertiser.

WhatsThe422 is created and produced entirely by “part-time, volunteer journalists working to cover municipal and community news beats that have been neglected or given insufficient attention by conventional media outlets,” its website notes.

Joining WhatsThe422 in independently reporting news – and, occasionally, commentary or opinions – from the western Montgomery County (PA) suburbs are Spring-Ford Online, Around Phoenixville, Life In Phoenixville, and Valley Views.

Stories covered by WhatsThe422 are regularly referenced by The Limerick Post in its “24 Hours In Limerick” reports.
