WORCESTER PA – Visitors can celebrate Martha Washington’s 278th birthday today (Saturday, June 6, 2009) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Montgomery County (PA)’s historic site, the Peter Wentz Farmstead, 2100 Shearer Rd.

Actress and historian Irene Ferguson, portraying the wife of Colonial Army Gen. George Washington, will tell farmstead guests stories of her life, then usher them off to a free tour in the Wentz house kitchen to learn about the 18th century techniques and skills required to produce some of Martha’s favorite dishes and drinks.

Ferguson has extensively researched the life of Lady Washington and portrayed her famous persona for local historic groups and museums, according to Educational Coordinator Kimberly Boice.

For more information about its activities, call the farmstead at 610-584-5104.
