LIMERICK PA – Student council members of the Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Education Center, 256 Swamp Pike, will conduct a “Can’ya Help Kenya?” Christmas in July dance to be held tonight (Friday, July 10, 2009) from 7-10 p.m. at the school, as a fund-raiser to support the Children’s Village in Kenya, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced this morning.

During the past year, diocesean spokeswoman Bonnie Olinger said, missionaries working with the Children’s Village told the student body about their duties. Students, in turn, “became intrigued by the opportunity to help other children,” Olinger noted.

Tonight’s dance is the latest of several fund-raisers students have held in recent months to help pay for construction of dormitories in the village for girls. Building is under way now, and although the school is closed for summer vacation students didn’t want it to stand between them and the chance to assist those in need, according to Olinger.

The Rev. Paul Brandt is pastor of the parish, which operates its newly constructed school and church in Limerick, and still maintains a church and offices in Linfield.
