LIMERICK PA – The 16th annual Limerick 5K Run for the Park, a race run along a course through Limerick Community Park and sponsored by the township Parks and Recreation Department, will be held Sept. 12 (2009; Saturday) at the park, Swamp Pike and Ziegler Road.

The race is one of several events during Limerick Community Family Day.

Registration for the scenic run opens at 8 a.m. on race day, with a one-mile kids’ run staged at 8:30 ; a tot trot at 8:45; and the main event at 9:15. Want to walk the 5K instead of run? That’s allowed!

Participants’ ribbons will be awarded to all those involved in the kids’ run and tot trot. For the 5K, awards will be presented to top three male and female finishers overall, as well as in the under-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and over-70 age brackets. 5K race amenities include a race T-shirt, an accompanying bag of goodies, food and beverages, and water stations along the course.

Entry fees for adults age 18 and older in the 5K are $18 in advance and $20 at the race; in the 5K for students age 13-17, $12 and $15, respectively; for the kids’ run (for ages 6-12), $9 and $10. Tot trotters (ages 6 and younger) run free. Registration is available online.
