SPRING CITY PA – For only a dollar apiece Saturday (Sept. 26, 2009) afternoon, during Community Day at the Faith Bible Fellowship on Pennhurst Road and Bridge Street in Spring City PA, kids lined up three and four deep to take three throws at a wet-suited guy sitting atop a dunk tank. Were they excited? You bet; they couldn’t wait to get their licks in on somebody twice their size …

… who calmly perched on a platform above the 5-foot-deep, 4-foot-wide mini-pool filled with cold water. He laughed, and watched pitch after pitch sail past …

… until, of course, he no longer had reason to laugh.

The fellowship’s event also featured musical performances, games for children, and a hay wagon ride around the grounds. Several hundred people attended over its 5-hour run.

Area residents have another reason to return to the borough next Saturday (Oct. 3, 2009), too, when the fourth annual Spring City October Music and Market Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. downtown on Main Street.

Sponsored by the Spring City Revitalization Committee, the festival will feature live music from bands organized by George’s Music, a downtown merchant. Other activities include arts and crafts, police finger printing for children, games, food from local restaurants, a beer-tasting offered by the Spring City Hotel, and vendor demonstrations. Admission is free.
