“A Harvest of Holidays,” a holiday flower show sponsored by the Pottstown Area Garden Club will be held from 3:30-6 p.m., and again Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Frederick Mennonite Community, Big Road (Route 73), Frederick PA. The classic horror tale, “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,” will be staged by the Ursinus College Theater troupe nightly Oct. 7-10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kaleidoscope Performing Arts Center’s Lenfest Theater on the college campus in Collegeville PA. The Philadelphia Motorcycle Show, featuring a wide variety of brand names, will be at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks PA on Oct. 9, 10 and 11. Motorcycles, ATVs and powersport vehicles all will be on display, as well as aftermarket gear and accessories. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 6 to 11, and children 5 and under are free. Hours: Oct. 9, 4 to 9 p.m.; Oct. 10, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Oct. 11, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 10

A fall fishing rodeo for youths from ages 3 to 15, sponsored by the Coventryville Trout Club, will be held Oct. 10 (2009; Saturday) from 9:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the French Creek day use area at Warwick County Park, 191 County Park Rd., Pottstown PA. The daily activities and skilled trades of earlier centuries represent knowledge still worth knowing, and learning, during the annual Laerenswaert program to be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the historic Peter Wentz Farmstead in Worcester PA. “Laerenswaert” is a German phrase meaning “worth learning.” The events are free and will be held rain or shine.

A master class in jazz dance technique, offered by internationally-recognized jazz dance choreographer and teacher Danny Buraczeski, will be provided free to local residents Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Floy Lewis Bakes Center Dance Studio at Ursinus College, Collegeville PA. The Bacon Brothers – actor Kevin Bacon and composer Michael Bacon – and their band will perform Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Colonial Theatre, 227 Bridge St., Phoenixville PA. The show is the third annual Concert for Culture and Conservation to benefit the French and Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust, and the Association for the Colonial Theatre. Sunday, Oct. 11

Healthy Families Week starts Sunday from 1-4 p.m. with the Fall Fitness Festival kick-off at the Pottstown branch of the Freedom Valley YMCAs, at the corner of Adams and Jackson streets in Pottstown PA. The day will feature a chicken barbecue, disc jockey, petting zoo, moon bounce, swim, dodge ball tournament, and games; in short, YMCA Administrative Services Director Jane Alan reports, “fun for all ages.” Best of all, she adds, guests get to try the Y’s services and amenities during the week at no charge.
