LIMERICK PA – Exelon Nuclear’s Limerick Generating Station (LGS) and its employees recently made two separate charitable contributions totaling $11,000 in the borough of Pottstown, the company announced Tuesday (Oct. 14, 2009).

The Pottstown Police Department received a $5,000 contribution to support joint operations with the Chester-Montgomery Emergency Response Team. “This year’s contribution will help our emergency response efforts, a program that has always received tremendous support from Limerick,” Pottstown Police Chief Mark Flanders said.

The police department gift was the latest of what LGS representatives said was more than $65,000 given since January (2009) to local first responders. “Limerick is thankful to the men and women who provide emergency services. We know these donations help them continue to keep our community safe,” said LGS Site Vice President Chris Mudrick.

The Pottstown Area Police Athletic League received a $6,000 donation. “We are extremely grateful to have friends like Limerick Generating Station, and appreciate their continued support,” said PAL Executive Director Amber Saylor.
