POTTSTOWN PA – Registration is now being accepted for what is called the most anticipated event of the year in Pottstown Memorial Medical Center‘s (PMMC) Healthy Woman lecture series, its annual Celestial Bodies workshops, to be held Nov. 19 (2009; Thursday) at 5:30 p.m. in the Center for the Arts of The Hill School, Beech and Sheridan streets, Pottstown PA.

Healthy Woman Logo from PMMCThis year’s workshops feature belly dancing, emotional freedom technique, guided imagery, I Ching, nutritional herbal remedies, Qigong, Reiki, restorative yoga, trigger point therapy and tuning fork therapy (vibrotherapy).

The evening will begin with light refreshments and the chance to network with Healthy Woman partners, followed by a keynote on new Family Risk Assessment Programs by Dr. Jeffrey Stevens, an oncologist and hematologist with PMMC’s Regional Cancer Center. After the keynote, participants are invited to attend their choice of three of the 10 available workshops.

According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, in 2007 approximately 38 percent of adults used some form of complementary therapy or alternative medicine, like those being offered in the workshops, most often for musculo-skeletal problems such as back, neck or joint pain.
