Big Brother Time 2009, by Randall Cleaver

COLLEGEVILLE PA – “Randall Cleaver: Found Objects,” will be on exhibit during regular gallery hours through Jan. 24 (2010) in the Philip and Muriel Berman Museum of Art at Ursinus College, Main Street, Collegeville PA.

Cleaver combines discarded objects such as springs, tools, toys and bits of pieces of machinery to make timepieces, lighting and functional sculpture.  He finds inspiration in “found objects” and works to give the viewer the sense that the parts were manufactured expressly to form the individual piece.

During the exhibition, Cleaver will join with Chris Aiken, Ursinus associate professor of dance, to present a course on using found objects to create dioramas, such as those of sculptor and pioneering assemblage artist Joseph Cornell. Student works will be on display  along with those of Cleaver.
