OAKS PA – The annual children’s clothing, toy and equipment sale conducted by the Valley Forge Mothers of Twins and Triplets Club, will be held April 17 (2010; Saturday) from 9 a.m. to Noon at Green Tree Church of the Brethren, 1078 Egypt Road, Oaks PA.

Moms of multiples have their hands full.

This event has been added to The Post calendar.

The sale is only one of several observances planned by the club during April to mark Multiple Birth Awareness Month. Club members also will:

  • Hold a meeting open to all mothers of multiples on April 14 (2010; Wednesday) at 7 p.m. in the downstairs social hall of the King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company, 170 Allendale Road, King of Prussia PA; and
  • Participate in the March of Dimes March for Babies walk on April 25 (2010; Sunday) beginning at 10 a.m. at Temple University’s Ambler Campus, 580 Meetinghouse Road, Ambler PA.

Because rates of multiple births have doubled since the 1980s, more families are faced with issues and challenges that only pertain to raising two, three or more children at the same time, according to club Publicity Chair Kate Cleary.

The month-long awareness efforts gives the club and others like it opportunities to inform the public about the issues facing families of multiples, she said. They include the dangers of Twin-to-Twin-Transfusion Syndrome and other fetal issues affecting multiple birth pregnancies, premature births and low birth weights, twins with special needs, physical and bonding demands placed on parents, and the separation of twins in classrooms.
