COLLEGEVILLE PA –  The Ursinus College Jazz Ensemble will present a concert April 10 (2010; Saturday) at 7:30  p.m. in the Kaleidoscope Lenfest Theater on the college’s campus, Main Street, Collegeville PA. The concert is free and open to the public.

Holly Gaines, an Ursinus assistant professor of music, will conduct the program that features modern jazz pieces, including Hanna and Barbera’s “Theme from the Flintstones,” Bob Mintzer’s “Brotherhood,” and Sonny Rollins’ “St. Thomas,” as well as traditional jazz pieces by Ellington and Irving Berlin.

Vocalist Carly Freedman will offer two jazz standards, “The Nearness of You” and “Fly Me to the Moon.” The ensemble’s trombone section will be featured on a funk tune called “Bone Collection.”
