LIMERICK PA – Vintage Country, a duo presenting country music from the ’50s through the ’70s, will be the featured performers Sunday (July 11, 2010) beginning at 6:30 p.m., when the second installment of the Limerick (PA) Township Parks and Recreation Department’s “Summer Concerts In The Park” series gets under way beneath the pavilion at Limerick Community Park, Swamp Pike and Ziegler Road. The event is free and open to the public.

The department’s five scheduled concerts are being sponsored by Phoenixville Federal Bank, Penn Liberty Bank, and Ambler Savings Bank, according to Parks and Recreation Director Karen Hegedus.

The varied performances are intended to appeal to a wide array of musical tastes. The North Penn area’s Wyndham Brass Quintet offered both contemporary and classical pieces to a moderately sized audience June 27 in the series’ opener.

In addition to Vintage Country, others in the series and their dates are July 18, Pennsylvania Villagers Polka Band; Aug. 1, Barbone Street Jazz Band; and Aug. 22, O’Bros Band.

This week’s concert, Hegedus noted, as well as other activities, events and trips scheduled by her department during July, are part of its observance of National Parks and Recreation Month.
