LIMERICK PA – If you’re not around Limerick PA township on the first Monday of every month at 2 p.m., you’re missing the wail.

Each month, on the same day and time, Exelon Nuclear’s Limerick Generating Station runs a routine test of its loudly wailing emergency sirens to ensure they work as expected. Residents near the plant hear a steady tone for a period of 3 minutes.

The existing sirens are being replaced this year with updated models. So YouTube account holder EraWoodMad decided to film a test – all 3 minutes’ worth – Monday (Aug. 2, 2010) while the older model horns were still around.
