Pennsylvania forestry is on exhibit in the WoodMobile at the 4-H Fair.

COLLEGEVILLE PA – The Pennsylvania WoodMobile, a traveling exhibit that provides information on the state’s forest resource and forestry products, will be displayed Aug. 13 (2010; Friday) from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30p.m., and Aug. 14 (Saturday) from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the Montgomery County 4-H Fair at the county 4-H Center, 1015 Bridge Rd. (PA Route 113), Collegeville PA.

Exhibit visitors will see how the forests of Pennsylvania have shaped the history of the state and nation, learn how today’s forest differs from those of 100 years ago, touch various hardwood species produced in Pennsylvania, and see how deer affect today’s forests.  They will also learn about Pennsylvania’s forest products industry, see how products are made, learn how forests are sustainably managed, and experience how common and unusual forest products touch lives every day.

The exhibit is housed in a 34-foot trailer, and is a project of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Hardwoods Development Council and the state’s hardwoods industry.

Accompanying the forestry exhibit is the Mobile Ag Science Lab. It comes with an educator, and will be open for viewing during regular fair hours.

A complete fair schedule as well as class listings is available on the county Cooperative Extension website. For more information, call 610-489-4315.
