Make those feet fly in Blue Bell during October.

BLUE BELL PA – An inaugural Community Day 5K Race and Fitness Walk, the proceeds of which will benefit an alumni fund that provides scholarships to help students realize their educational goals, will be held Oct. 2 (2010; Saturday) beginning at 8 a.m. on the central campus of Montgomery County Community College, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell PA.

The event is hosted by the college Alumni Association.

Registration check-in begins at 8 a.m., and the race and walk starts at 9 a.m. Before Sept. 2, entry fees are $20 for adults, $5 for children ages 12 and under, and $15 for Montgomery County Community College students, faculty and staff members. Entry fees increase by $5 after Sept. 2. Pre-register online or by calling Lisa Altomare at 215-641-6529.

The course consists of flat pathways and walkways around the college campus. Fast Cat Sports will time the race, and list participants and results online. Prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place overall male and female winners. Awards will also be presented to the top runners in several categories, include male and female age groups, students and alumni.

The college’s Community Day observance follows the event. It includes family friendly activities, food, music and performances. Visitors may tour the college and participate in a  health and wellness expo, too.
