PHOENIXVILLE PA – The day-long annual Community Day sponsored Saturday (Oct. 2, 2010) by the Kiwanis Club of Phoenixville at the borough’s Reeves Park was another success, attracting hundreds of people to enjoy ready-to-go chicken barbecue dinners grilled and packaged by club members (above), and lots of bargains offered by vendors and area organizations whose booths lined the park’s asphalt paths (below).

A young and energetic rock band (below) named “Never Look Back,” consisting of Phoenixville area musicians, were among those providing entertainment to visitors. “They’re loud,” one woman complained, but high school youths who filled benches positioned in front of the park stage didn’t seem to mind. The group played songs their peers were sure to enjoy but also performed a throw-back tune or two, including the late 1960s standard “Different Drum,” made popular by Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Ponys.

And if the aroma of chicken weren’t enough to make them hungry, guests could choose to dine on hot dogs, hamburgers or other sandwiches as well (above).
