KING OF PRUSSIA PA – Stump Hall Road in Skippack (PA) Township was scheduled to be closed Monday (Nov. 15, 2010) so the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation can rehabilitate and repair its bridge over Zacharias Creek, PennDOT’s District 6-0 office in King of Prussia announced last week. The closure will continue through March 15, 2011, and during the period traffic will be detoured between Anders Road and Route 73, it said.

The progress of the work will depend on the weather, PennDot noted.

During re-construction of the structurally deficient bridge, Stump Hall Road’s through-traffic will be detoured over Route 73 and Route 363. Local access will be maintained on Stump Hall Road up to the construction area. The existing box beam bridge built, in 1958, will be improved with structural repairs, new guide rail, pavement markings and signs. It carries about 3,100 vehicles per day.

General contractor on the $965,000 project is Loftus Construction of Cinnaminson NJ. The bridge improvement project is financed completely by state funding.

The Loftus contract also includes rehabilitation of two other structurally deficient box beam bridges during 2011: Brinton Lake Road over Chester Creek in Delaware County; and New Hanover Square Road over Minister Creek in New Hanover (PA) Township.
